III A statement of purpose

To be a political party that

i) enacts the best policy in any situation that requires government action

ii) governs with the highest levels of integrity - recognising the privileged position that political parties occupy in supporting democratic institutions

iii) is the best possible 'alternative government' when not in government

The party's purpose will be achieved by:

Selecting and supporting the best candidates for office

  • candidates with a community focus, personal integrity, and the skills, experience, and aptitudes that will allow them to be excellent representatives for their communities

Listening to those affected by government action (or inaction)

  • in order to better understand the issue and options

Using the best understanding to address policy challenges

  • the best understanding of evidence, analysis, and practice; while constantly striving to improve, updating understandings when that is required, and being vigilant for when it is required
