1. Generosity
Because we all have to live together and none of us is perfect.
And because we care.
2. Courage
Because it’s hard work to disagree with people.
Because it’s hard work to make good decisions.
Because none of us is perfect; and the things you need to do in government are consequential.
3. Connection
Because we are all connected, so we’d best take it seriously.
Because we’re better together.
4. Security
Because each of us is special and should be safe.
Because a secure foundation is the basis for exploration, innovation, flourishing, and joy.
5. Listening-Action
Because there is work to do and it’s best to know all we can about that work before we try to do it.
6. Subsidiarity
Because those closer to the work that’s needed are best placed to do it.
Because hierarchies are coercive.
Because power distorts vision and thought; to avoid centralising power is a worthwhile goal.
7. Joy
Joy is fuel; a motivation for engaging.
It gives us the power to face the uncertain and a way to celebrate our work.
